Community Medical Centers is helping to grow Central Valley doctors and attract specialists through strong partnerships with UC San Francisco's, Fresno Medical Education Program and University of the Pacific's School of Dentistry.

Our commitment to these programs helps bring some of the best and brightest doctors to continue their education here in central California. As the home of the region's only combined burn and Level 1 trauma center and the region’s only perinatology unit for high-risk pregnancies and deliveries, Community Regional Medical Center is the site of the majority of UCSF Fresno’s postdoctoral training.

UCSF Fresno built its new $27 million Center for Medical Education and Research at the Community Regional Medical Center campus. Annually about 200 UCSF Fresno residents receive advanced training there and at Community facilities in emergency medicine, family practice, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, critical surgical care – and most recently, in cardiology and pulmonary medicine.

UCSF Fresno was the only program nationwide to receive 2007 accreditation for a fellowship in pulmonary medicine, which will bring three new residents a year to a region with some of the highest asthma rates in the nation. These programs benefit the entire San Joaquin Valley because nearly a third of the physicians trained here choose to stay and practice medicine in the Valley when their studies are done.
