Breakfast IS the Most Important Meal

Recent research shows that Americans who regularly skip breakfast are four-and-a-half times more likely to be overweight or obese compared to those who don’t skip breakfast.

Consider this. People who don't eat breakfast eat fewer meals during the day, which means they are more likely to overindulge when they do eat. Plus, food kick-starts your metabolism. Calories are burned just in the digestion of food. If you don’t put food in your system first thing in the morning, your metabolism remains at a depressed level until you get your first meal.

Eating a balanced breakfast, for example, of a piece of toast and a hard-boiled egg is just the right thing to get you started. (The traditional meal of bacon and eggs will only slow you down.)

For those on the run, you might try a meal-replacement shake. Just be sure there is a good balance of carbohydrates and protein.
