Become Physically Active to Improve Your Health

Changing your level of health does not mean you need to spend countless hours in a gym. If you are relatively inactive now, it won't take too much to improve your health by becoming physically active.

Try some of these activities and see how you start to feel:

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Wash your car yourself instead of taking it to the car wash.
  • When you go to the store or mall, park at the back of the parking lot -- rather than as close to the front door as possible. You'll need to walk a little farther; but you'll already have increased your activity.
  • Walk around the block. Start walking once every other day. Then, after a few weeks, increase it to every day.
  • If there are stairs in your home, make as many trips up and down as possible, each day. Every time there is something that needs to go upstairs, make a point to take it "right then" so you make several trips up and down the stairs each day.
  • Get rid of your gardener. Do all of your own yard work.

Just making small changes in your everyday life can improve your health and help you feel more energetic.
