The Neurosciences Program at Community Regional is a designated “Center of Excellence." While many different elements go into creating such a center, the end result is a program that has become a highlight of our overall service line. Neuroscience as a center of excellence is not only a source of pride for our facility, but for our staff, our patients and our community.

Becoming a center of excellence involves a team effort between medical staff, hospital administration, and nursing staff. First, a physician leads, supervises and coordinates the program. Working closely with a dedicated hospital administrator, the physician sets the vision of the program and ensure that everything and everyone involved with the neurosciences program works as a cohesive team.

Nurses specially trained in neurosciences are crucial to a successful program. These nurses are well versed in the unique problems associated with neurology patients. They work closely with physicians to ensure our patients receive excellent care.

Leading-edge equipment and access to neurological specialists are the next steps. Community Regional is home to a number of specialists and subspecialists who are trained to handle the many different diagnoses under the neurosciences umbrella. By using our advanced equipment, these specialists treat most neurological disorders, including seizures, stroke, dementias, etc.

A center of excellence also creates a set of benchmarking processes. Through medical evidence, literature, and best practices, benchmarking creates a road map for the best possible way to treat almost any neurological disorder. It creates a solid set of treatment steps on paper. Benchmarking helps expedite treatment–and that often leads to better results for our patients.
