The California Cancer Center has all but eliminated the need to travel to Los Angeles or the Bay Area to receive premier cancer care. We offer the latest technologies, access to national clinical trials, and world-renowned physicians right here in Central California.
Accreditation
The California Cancer Center maintains a level of excellence through accreditation from such national accrediting bodies as The Joint Commission. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards–including a safe working environment, executing an administratively sound organization and providing high quality health care. We are the only community-based cancer program in California to achieve this high level of accreditation.
The California Cancer Center also is accredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) Commission on Cancer with the designation of "Teaching Hospital Cancer Program” (THCP).
To achieve THCP status, an organization must meet all of the following criteria:
• The facility is associated with a medical school and participates in training residents in at least four areas, two of which are medicine and surgery.
• The facility offers the full range of diagnostic and treatment services, on site or by referral.
• The members of the medical staff are board certified in the major medical specialties, including oncology, where applicable.
• The facility is required to participate in clinical research.
Our laboratory is accredited with the highest designation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and is CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) certified. Accreditation by CAP is voluntary and is a reflection of our high quality services.
We also are licensed by the state of California's Department of Health Services, which holds us responsible for providing overall quality laboratory services.
Patient Satisfaction
At California Cancer Center, we believe patients and their families are an important part of the care team. After all, no one knows your body more than you. This approach to patient-centered care means we listen to your opinions and beliefs about your health care and incorporate them into your treatment plan whenever possible. This approach virtually eliminates unwanted or unnecessary services, streamlining the treatment process and often resulting in more efficient–and ultimately more successful–cancer care.
Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. We consistently ask our patients to complete satisfaction surveys to ensure we continue to deliver high levels of quality care. This information is shared with physicians, staff and administration.
Performance Enhancement
Our care teams believe in using proven, clinically sound practices. The following professional organizations help shape our clinical guidelines:
• American Medical Association (AMA)
• American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)
• National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)
• Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI)
• Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG)
• Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG)
Professional Collaboration
Our physicians are part of a larger network of some of the world’s premier oncologists. Since they are always looking for the best way to treat patients, when necessary, they look to their colleagues and peers for collaborative input.
Literature Presentations
Amazing advancements in the fight against cancer are made nearly every day. There are always new studies to read, new prescription drugs and therapies to learn and new practices being introduced in the medical field. Our physicians always stay current on medical literature.
New Patients
When a new patient enters our practice, physicians talk with a group of care team members and then plan a multidisciplinary treatment plan for each patient. This ensures that therapies are created to meet each individual patient’s needs.
Cancer Conferences
At cancer conferences, physicians learn about cases they would not normally see on a day-to-day basis. Patient cases are reviewed and presented by a multidisciplinary team consisting of a surgeon, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, pathologist, radiologist and a registered nurse.
