Who We Serve

We believe everyone deserves top-quality medical care. We also believe patients shouldn't have to travel far to get the latest medical advancements. That's why we constantly pursue technologies, programs and experts that make world-class care available to the people of California's San Joaquin Valley.

Community's Service AreaWe serve primarily people in the greater Fresno area, a population of about 600,000. But we also operate the only combined burn and Level 1 trauma center between Sacramento and Los Angeles and routinely provide the highest level of emergency care to patients from a 15,000-square-mile area. And the birth center at Community Regional receives patients from 15 other area hospitals because of its expertise in handling high-risk pregnancies and deliveries.

As a whole, the people in our region face several challenges. The Valley's high unemployment and poverty rates are straining a system where asthma and diabetes rates are among the nation's highest and government support for providing care to the poor is shrinking. And health care providers are struggling to provide enough doctors, nurses and hospital beds for the area's booming population.

About 75% of the patients admitted to our hospitals are enrolled in state- or federally-funded health care plans that don't fully cover the costs of providing care.

Despite the challenges, Community continues to provide Valley residents with top-notch specialty care that's close to home. CyberKnife®, IVF fertility services and California's best place for bariatric surgery are just a few examples.
